This record is an attempt to have a different kind of conversation. A slower conversation. This is a small pressing and not digitally available. You have to make a little bit of an effort to acquire it. I think the effort to seek something out creates an investment that is unlike today’s engagement with music. Many years ago I used to talk to people at record stores to ask their opinions about records. Many years ago, I would search for turntablist mixtapes or Dancehall 45s at specific stores. When I was young I would mail order records from small labels in different cities. This work made the physical records more valuable to me. The journey to get the record was embedded in the experience of the object and how I appreciated the music. This is what I am hoping to bring with this series of releases on Recording Device.
